Statement on World Press Freedom Day 2026
On World Press Freedom Day, WJM highlighted the severe deterioration of freedom of expression in Afghanistan and the particular pressure on women journalists. The statement called for protection of journalists, an end to forced deportations and meaningful international accountability for violations of freedom of expression.
WJM reaffirmed that freedom of expression and access to information are fundamental rights.
